The MaRCCI Advisory Board recently convened at Lake Victoria Serena Resort Hotel, Uganda, on November 15-16, 2023 for a highly productive session under the esteemed leadership of Principal CAES, Prof. Gorreti Nnabanooga. The meeting, graced by the presence of the Dean School of Agricultural Sciences ( SAS), unfolded as a collaborative platform for meaningful discussions and strategic planning.
The Board Chairman, who also serves as the Director General of the National Agricultural Research Organisation(NARO) Dr. Yona Baguma, chaired the sessions with a keen focus on fostering innovation and research excellence. The atmosphere was charged with intellectual energy as key stakeholders shared insights and perspectives on advancing the mission and vision of MaRCCI.
The Principal of SisterĀ College Of Natural Sciences, Prof. Winston Tumps Ireeta Principal, and Prof. Arthur Tugume- Dean School of Biosciences, brought their wealth of knowledge to the deliberations, enriching the discourse with diverse perspectives and expertise.
The meeting was graced by other delegates virtually on Zoom including The Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Academic Affairs Prof.Umar Kakumba.

- Strategic Planning: The Advisory Board delved into strategic planning discussion and review of the existing strategic plan, identifying key areas for collaboration and growth within MaRCCI and its external partners. The discussions centred around aligning research objectives with the broader goals of promoting scientific advancements and the focus for 2024. The Board Chairman, also the Director General of NARO, played a pivotal role in steering the discussions towards actionable outcomes. His leadership set the tone for a focused and result-oriented meeting.
- Productive Deliberations: The meeting was marked by extremely productive deliberations and presentations from members on the different projects that have been performed in 2023 showcasing the commitment of all participants to the advancement of MaRCCI’s mission. The diverse expertise of the attendees contributed to a well-rounded exploration of ideas and initiatives.
